Grant Chappell
Principal
Grant has been involved in over 130 transactions including multi-family, mixed use, industrial, office and retail totaling more than $250 million in sales. Before joining NAI NorCal, Grant worked as a loan officer specializing in purchase and refinance mortgages, for both English and Spanish-speaking clients. He served for 6 years on the Board of Directors for East Bay Rental Housing Assoc. and three years on the Board of Directors of the Center for Elders Independence as their Real Estate Advisor.
Jonathan Burmenko
Senior Investment Advisor
Jonathan is a licensed real estate salesperson and investment advisor. Jonathan has formed a specialty in Bay Area multifamily properties and joined a high-performing team that puts the client’s needs first and forms strong, long-lasting relationships. Jonathan has lived in the Bay Area for his whole life, being born in San Francisco and settling in Walnut Creek, solidifying a strong knowledge of the Bay.
Samuel Hayes
Broker of Records
Sam began his career at CBRE working with the office leasing team before joining Mason-McDuffie Financial as a commercial mortgage broker. During his time there, he structured and financed $120 million in loans through life companies on office, industrial, retail and multi-family properties. He established a property management company focusing on add value potential and helped investors maximize ROI, while also managing his own investment properties.
Robert Chappell
Investment Advisor
Rob brings clarity and rigor to support clients’ decision-making across a range of scenarios. As part owner of a complex multifamily property in Berkeley, he has been fortunate to realize the successes of East Bay real estate ownership. He brings experience in consultative software sales, private equity investment management, and a deep understanding of Northern California markets.

While we are focused on helping our clients realize an ideal balance of personal and financial returns, we seek to avoid spreading ourselves thin. In other words, we increase the quality by narrowing our focus. It’s therefore not uncommon that we will refer experts from outside of our team.
Valuation
Valuation services are foundational to our relationship with our client. It is a reflection of our track record, our understanding of the market and how we execute within our investor networks. Valuations also put our client’s personal and financial pathways in an important context (ie, the pool of buyers for larger buildings will be relatively smaller and have more stringent due diligence than that of a buildings with four units or fewer)
Property Marketing
From modern approaches such as QR Codes and 3D Renderings, or traditional techniques like postcards, the Chappell Team utilizes an array of marketing tools so the client's property is promoted in the right place, to the right target audience, at the right time. Our advisors hold themselves accountable to a minimum of 200 calls per week to keep a finger on the pulse of the market. Each advisor has their own niche focus, both with respect to geographic area and product type, enabling them to truly be experts in their respective fields.
